A young woman’s hijab was ripped off on a busy London street in broad daylight. The incident happened on High Road, North London. The woman was walking with a female friend, crossing the road, when two men came up from behind her, from which one pulled down her hijab, after that both the suspects ran away.
Scotland Yard described the first attacker as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, while the other was of the same age.
We realized that at a street-level Muslim woman who were visible, and wore the Hijab or the headscarf, were suffering more targeted abuse,” said Fiyaz Mughal, director of UK-based Tell Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks (MAMA), that monitors Islamophobic attacks.
Further, the women who wear Niqab, the face veil, suffered more aggressive incidents — there was something about the face veil that in a way brought out the worst in the perpetrator.
I believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and they should not be judged for that.
