Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been adamant about his stance related to VIP culture and has thrashed it time and again. However, it seems that now is the time to prove if he and his party stand by it really or not.
PTI Media Affairs Head Faisal Vawda was recently seen riding a heavy motorbike, guarded by four protocol vehicles including police mobiles. The party leader was spotted at Karachi’s Zamzama area and his stint along with the security has created frenzy over social media.
Additionally, Mr. Vawda is not even holding any significant position in the government, which makes him immune to any sort of security and protocol provision from the government. Due to the severe criticism and bashful remarks received, Vawda addressed media and stated:
“We all are human and I’m a human too. So I also have the urge to do things that everyone does. On that particular day, it was cloudy and it was predicted to rain and I thought it would be a good time [to take the bike out]. I only use the bike for leisure trips, not official business.
“I’m a businessman, my family belongs to a business community. I’ve been attacked, my father’s been attacked in the past. And I’ve been keeping security for the past 20-25 years. The day Pakistan is going to be secure, I’m going to make sure that we don’t need all this, that nobody wants to use security.
“Even my children don’t want to use it. They’re studying abroad, that’s why they find it very odd.”
While previously Imran Ismail and Faisal Vawda narrowly escaped a murder attempt near Karachi’s Delhi Colony area, and remained safe due to bullet proof vehicles. But, the party’s strong stance on VIP culture still doesn’t sit well with the situation. As Imran Khan has continuously vowed to stand against those leaders who use public’s money on their extraneous security and protocol.
Let’s see what PTI Chairman Imran Khan has to say about this incident as he, himself, has showed determination to travel without any security.
