Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has finally resumed flight operations to Barcelona, on Sunday, after a span of two years.
A special B-777 aircraft departed for the Spanish city through Paris from Benazir Bhutto International airport, this morning. The preparations done for celebrating the departure of the flight had to be negated in honour of ‘Abbottabad crash’, which took lives of 47 people.
PIA CEO Bernd Hildenbrand saw off the passengers and, while talking to the media, stated that ‘with the resumption of flights to Barcelona, after a gap of nearly two years, passengers will have a convenient link between Pakistan and Spain’.
PIA will now weekly operate two flights to Barcelona, one each from Islamabad and Lahore. The flight timings would be flexible, but, the departure would be scheduled for Sundays and Tuesdays.
