The Pakistan International Airlines have announced extra flights to Saudi Arabia for Umrah pilgrims. The national carrier will start extra flights from today which will continue till 23rd May to facilitate intending pilgrims from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. The decision has been taken due to an increase in the number of Umrah passengers during the Holy month of Ramazan.
The PIA spokesperson said the airline is increasing the number of flights considering rise in demand of flights for Saudi Arabia.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Riyadh has issued more than 6.2 million Umrah Visas since the beginning of the current Umrah season. As of 25th April, Pakistan has the highest number of Umrah pilgrims at over 1.3 million, followed by Indonesia and India with 0.8 million and 0.5 million respectively.
The initiative taken by the national airline will certainly help the Umrah pilgrims and will accommodate the maximum number of Pakistanis to perform Umrah during the month.
