Pakistan Army wins first International PACES, 2016

Army Services Sports of Pakistan won first position at the first ever International PACES Competition 2016. The sports competition was organized at the Fortress Stadium in Lahore, on Sunday night. The stadium was packed with the spectators who were there to witness the international sports competition between different armies of the world.

The competition was presided by General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Army staff, as the main guest who also gave away prizes and medals to the winners.

While addressing the attendees, General Raheel Sharif expressed his thankfulness to the army teams of Australia, China, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Jordan,  Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkey and England for their visit.

Different marathons, and mini marathons were organized in the event for the participants to be judged. The athletes of 14 foreign armies also participated in the races which started from Askari-10 and concluded at the Ayub Stadium.

The closing ceremony was a grand show of the day which enthralled the audiences.A tent-pegging event was also included in the closing ceremony. Singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Zafar rendered national songs.

The soldiers from People’s Liberation Army (China) and Pakistan Army managed to grab the best titles. All in all, PACES was a complete show of skills, talents, and bravery from all of the army teams which participated in the competition.
