Norway demands a ban on burqas in the educational institutes

Education Minister Torbjorn Roe Isaksen, said the government was seeking “national regulations prohibiting the full-face veil in schools and universities”.

Further he stated that the ban would not apply to Islamic headscarves; people should be allowed to express their faith in public.

This issue has come up recently in political debates, with less than a year to go before parliamentary elections.

Recently France and Belgium both banned the burqa and niqab in public. In August, Germany´s interior minister came out in favour of a partial ban

A poll published earlier this month also showed Britain to be strongly in favour of a burqa ban.
