Iran Halts Russia From Using Its Airbase For Air Strikes In Syria

The spokesperson of the foreign minister of Iran has stated Russia that they will not provide them their air base for further air strikes in Syria for the time being. Bahram Ghasemi told the media on Monday 22nd August, in Tehran, that the Russian airstrikes on militants in Syria were “temporary, based on a Russian request.”

He also said that the air strikes were carried out with “mutual understanding and with Iran’s consent” and that the Russian mission “is finished, for now.” He further added that Russia “has no base in Iran.”

His statements reveal the Iranian authorities’ discontent at the point of publicity at Russia’s use of an Iranian air base got last week.
