Amazon’s Indian flag doormats ‘for sale’ removed after immense fury

As soon as the retail giant – Amazon spread a sale of Indian flag doormats on its site, an angry protest went ablaze in India as citizens took the item as national disgust and disrespect. However, Amazon took off the offensive item from its Canadian site today, reported Economic Times.

With the situation getting to stronger holds, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj asked the e-retailer to withdraw the controversial and disrespectful item alongside an unconditional apology; stating that no Amazon official would be granted an Indian visa and the ones issued previously would also be rescinded.

The External Affairs Minister took to Twitter, as she expressed her anger stating: “Indian High Commission in Canada: This is unacceptable. Please take this up with Amazon at the highest level. If this is not done forthwith, we will not grant Indian Visa to any Amazon official. We will also rescind the Visas issued earlier.”

The tweets spread viral and created havoc on the social media site by Indians across the globe. The Washington Post said, “Her tweet storm escalated the protest into a possible diplomatic spat.”
