In conversation with Mr. Muhammad Ali Atara – CEO Dinner in the Sky Pakistan

  1. How would you describe yourself in few words?
I would describe myself as one of the Young & Ambitious Entrepreneur & a Pakistani National. I Graduated From UK in the Y/o 2011 as a Civil & Structural Engineer, and straight away I returned to my Homeland during that same year. In 2012, I joined M/s Al-Munaf Corporation (AMC) as one of the Acting Director, and till today I give 75% of my everyday time & energy to AMC, as this Business is truly my main Bread & Butter. I am someone who is honest, caring, hardworking, ambitious, patriotic, and just a little intelligent that’s all. I have a great sense of humor, and in reality I am an easy person who doesn’t easily give up. I am an optimist rather than pessimist. I also enjoy travelling, watching movies, going out for dinner, having great intellectual conversations and always try to search for new ideas and inventions.

“My life motto is; Do my best, so that I can’t blame myself for anything.”

  1. Give us a brief introduction about Dinner in the Sky and where did it originate from?
Dinner in the Sky, a concept of dining adventure in the sky is chiefly the establishment of the world’s best communication agency “HakunaMatata”, Belgium. Dinner in the Sky is a Belgium based novelty restaurant service which uses a crane to hoist the diners table lifting up 22 persons at a time, on a height of about 20 feet above into the sky.

Our goal behind this flying dining concept is to provide our clients and customers a moment of life time with your favorite ones that are also up in the sky , this is a source of happiness for today’s generation. They lift up the flying table in the sky via crane system and offer a spring of amusement for the enjoyers around the world.

Dinner in the Sky started their journey of banqueting in the sky with the collaboration of 22 newly developed restaurants in Europe. Dinner in the Sky has covered several of events including Sports events, Brand showcasing, Wedding & B2B meetups and the list goes on.

The restaurant works on the formula of happiness and entertainment with scrumptious food and a perfect ambience. Dinner in the Sky is currently running its operations in 63 countries including Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, where the 64th country is Pakistan and 65th country being Sri Lanka. Furthermore, sole ownership of 100% rights belongs to Mr. Ali Atara for both of these Asian Countries.

“Hence, dream don’t work unless you do”

  1. How did you come up with the idea of bringing this venture to Pakistan?

“This is how this Story begins.”

I expect that almost all of us would admit that life’s real education happens outside the classroom, and travelling would be one of the best ways to learn things and groom ourselves practically. I experienced this exclusive invention during my last year holiday trip in the month of April-2017 and trust me it was and still is the best meal of my life so far. I wish to have this meal soon once again.

I discovered the concept of ‘Dinner in the Sky’ back in May 2017. Dubai was the place where I actually experienced this first ever exclusive meal of my life; I decided to find the creator of this concept. Hence, it took me almost 3 months to find the parent company based in Belgium & finally ended up in signing the deal with them, and be the sole owner of Dinner in the Sky, for entire Pakistan. There were around 83 candidates, who had already submitted their bids for Pakistan, but my honesty & my personality actually made me win this contract and today I can say that I am the proud owner having the sole rights to start up this business and that goes for both Asian Countries, i.e. Pakistan & Srilanka.

“Ideas pull the trigger, but instinct loads the gun.”

  1. What kind of response do you expect from the launch of ‘Dinner in the Sky”?

As we all know, the people of Karachi are fun & food loving, just imagine a great meal with your loved ones up in the sky with stars, pure wind, amazing view and calm environment; it’s a life time experience.

In social media people can’t stop sharing the idea of “Dinner in the Sky, Pakistan” with their friends & family and everyone is super excited, waiting for the launch of this venture. This project will definitely Rock!

Furthermore, I would really apologize to all of our Dinner in The Sky (DITS) lovers, for the delay in the announcement of this launch, as we are still working hard, to finalize the best possible venue in Karachi. We want all of our customers to have the best experience, so that every single penny spent on their meal turns out to be worth it.

By the Grace of God, we already have 75000 likes on our Facebook page as of today and these are genuine fans of Dinner in the Sky. We did not have to false advertise for this prestigious project.

“Don’t find customers for your products, find product for your customer”

  1. How safe is Dinner in the Sky, do you have certain security measures/ certifications?

Dinner in the Sky is a product developed by E.I.T.S BvBa based two varying concepts; exclusivity and safety.

Dinner in the Sky is designed according to German norm DIN 4112, flying structures – guidelines for the calculation and execution, with all drawings, calculations and simulations tested by TUV Rheinland. The platforms are built in Belgium and are regularly checked and maintained. Every aspect of the concept, from the seat belts to the type of crane used, has been scrutinized and carefully considered to ensure maximum safety for our clients and employees.

While seated guests wear safety belts, standing presenter and the whole crew is secured by safety harnesses all the time during the flight. A safety supervisor will brief clients about all safety regulations prior to the flight and will be in constant communication with the crane operator and ground crew, so that he has a complete picture of the situation during the operation. The company gives painstaking attention to every detail in order to maximize security and ensure guests always feel safe.

Safety being our top most priority, is one of the reasons why Dinner in the Sky is now operated in over 63 countries and is able to gain official authorization from the toughest Quality concern nations including US, Canada, Australia, South-Africa and Germany.

  1. What are your future prospects?

Let me start by saying that neither ‘Money’ nor ‘Fame’ is our primary concern. A business does require finances; however, if you only focus on monetary benefits it is likely that your venture won’t last.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

Your consistence to believe in achieving something is what drives every morning and be proud about it. Having pure motives in your life and career, gives you both peace and purpose, which are invaluable things. Yes, me and my team are now working on some new projects and of course they all are exclusive.

  1. How do you balance your professional & personal life?

“It’s all about quality of life and finding a happy balance between work, friends and family.”

I feel blessed that I know how to take care of relationships whether they are my family, my friends, and my work team or even when it comes to strangers.

You can say, I have an attitude but not ego; I am ready to bowing down where I think it is required.

Nowadays, it is absolutely indispensable for professionals to maintain a proper balance between work and life, everyone should always keep in mind that you should “Work to live and certainly not live to work”.

The most important thing that you should take care of is the time-management factor. If you are able to manage your time from the very first day between your work & family, you can easily turn it into a habit and would not have to face any problem. Finishing the assigned task on time helps you spend more time with your family.

Another important thing that everyone should keep in mind is avoiding taking your office work/task to home; this will spoil both your professional & personal life and (this is my own personal experience.)

  1. When and where is the DITS expected to launch?

We are still working hard, to finalize the best possible venue + permission for operations in Karachi.

Hopefully, the launching date will be announced very soon through our website. A tentative date that I can myself assume would be 23rd March, 2019. So please stay tuned with us for all further updates.

  1. Any message for your readers?

If you are going to be a great entrepreneur, you will have to think outside the box and take some risks that most people would not consider taking.          You will also have to get used to the idea that not everyone will support what you are doing. All leaders are innovators and face discouragement and criticism. The best way to combat against pessimists, who doubt on your abilities, is to have a solid circle of supportive people in your life. Identify these people and use them as a rock to anchor your ambitions when you hit a storm of depreciation.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have with in you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
