WhatsApp to soon let users block frequently forwarded messages in groups

Messaging application Whatsapp will soon let you bar frequently forwarded messages in a group chat.

According to WABetaInfo, the messaging app will soon let you bar frequently forwarded messages in a group chat. The feature will only available to administrators and will reportedly be accessible via group settings.

A message gains the “frequently forwarded” tag when it’s been forwarded more than four times, according to the report.

WhatsApp is currently testing the feature in this Android version.

The latest feature is a part of a host of changes the service is making to try and stop misinformation from easily spreading. Other tools added to the platform include forward limits, suspicious link detection, and improved admin controls.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp introduced new controls that would allow users to decide who can add them to group messages.

According to reports, users can control who has permission to add them to groups and lets them stop people from adding them o groups if they’re not in their address book. Users can also prevent everyone from being able to add them to groups, or else leave the option open to all.
