Telenor becomes Pakistan’s first 4.5G network

Telenor has launched Pakistan’s first ever 4.5 G technologies in the cities of Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi. This launch has shown the telecom firm’s relentless commitment to empowering Pakistan via a high-speed network that boosts the customer experience.

Telenor Group CEO Sigve Brekke, who is visiting Pakistan on a 4-day agenda, inaugurated 4.5G by placing the first call over this advanced LTE network. Today, over 80pc of Telenor Pakistan’s network supports 3G/4G services and the launch of 4.5G services is a milestone towards bringing the latest technology to Pakistan.

“We envision a digital Pakistan where the fast-evolving communication technology benefits all,” said Sigve Brekke. “With Advanced LTE we continue to introduce new technology that furthers the digital revolution in Pakistan.”

The CEO said that their vision is of a digital Pakistan where the fastly changing communication technology provides benefits to everyone. He also said that with the advanced LTE they would keep on introducing new technology that would be advancing the digital revolution in Pakistan.

Telenor Pakistan’s current 4G subscribers with compatible handsets will be able to receive the faster speeds automatically. The 4.5G features have already been activated across Telenor sites in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Presently, more than 80 per cent of Telenor Pakistan’s network supports 3g/4G services and the introduction of 4.5G services is an achievement towards bringing in the latest technology to Pakistan.
