Nike recently released its video campaign which highlighted female Muslim athletes breaking all the stereotypes & boundaries and standing against the common society’s conception of women. And now, Nike is launching professional sports hijab for all the female athletes who want to keep their heads covered.
Nike has now admitted that the video it has just released was a foreplay to the new ‘Pro Hijab’ headscarf which is going to be launched. The initiative has been taken to encourage Muslim females to take more part in sports, without being worried about cultural norms or covering their heads.
The Nike Pro Hijab has been designed in such a way that it won’t suffocate the user and will allow the sweat to be evaporated. With the help of its mesh material, Nike has claimed the hijab to be “most breathable fabric.” The polyester is lightweight and has small holes strategically placed all over to allow most breathability.
These pro Hijabs were tested by Nike brand ambassadors including Manal Rostom and Zahra Lari, an Emirati figure skater, as well other athletes all over the Middle East.
The “Pro Hijab” will be launched in Spring 2018.
