LG has unveiled its latest gaming offering: two new monitors with a blazing one-millisecond response time. The monitors are part of LG’s UltraGear family and are the first in the world to offer such a fast IPS display, which helps bring IPS (In-Plane Switching) up to a closer standard with TN (Twisted Nematic) panels.
The larger model comes with a curved, wide-angle monitor and 37.5-inch screen, a resolution of 3840 x 1600 and a brightness of 450 nits. The second model has a smaller 27-inch display, a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a brightness of 350 nits. These specs aside, their main headline is their smooth motion.
At E3 2019, LG has unveiled the world’s first IIPS gaming monitor with a 1ms GTG response time. The UltraGear is available in 27-inch (27GL850) and 38-inch (38GL950G) configurations, and both variants feature curved screens with minimal bezels. Both options also offer 98% DCI-P3 wide color gamut.
The 27-inch 27GL850 is compatible with NVIDIA’s G-SYNC, and has a refresh rate of 144Hz. It sports a resolution of 2560 x 1440 with a maximum brightness of 350 nits, and is compatible with HDR10 content. It also has two HDMI ports as well as a DisplayPort.
The 38-inch 38GL950G is more interesting, as it has a higher-res WQHD (3840 x 1600) panel with a maximum brightness of 450 nits. The base refresh rate is 144Hz, and it can be overclocked to 175Hz. It also works with NVIDIA’s G-SYNC and is compatible with the VESA DisplayHDR 400 standard. In terms of connectivity, you get a single HDMI port at the back and a DisplayPort.
