China Mobile Communications to invest $200 million in Pakistan

China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC) is the world’s largest telecom carrier with regard to the number of subscriptions it cover. The Corporation has finally decided to invest in Pakistani market with a business of US$200 million to expand its telecom operations in the country, reports ‘China Daily’.

China Mobile will expand Pakistani network by incorporating 3G and 4G sites, escalating its overall sites database to 10,000 by the end of this year.

The Beijing based company’s Pakistan branch – Zong has already added US$2.1 billion to the economy of the country with about 6000 4G sites by the end of 2016.

The company in its statement said:

“We intend to expand 4G coverage, not only to urban but also rural areas via additional investment and network expansion.” 

China Mobile initially started its functioning in Pakistan in April 2008 by the name of Zong. Thus, due to its expanding user base, Zong had reached 2 million 4G subscribers in the country.
