An apt take on its iconic tagline, ‘Stay Home of the Whopper’ is a call to arms for burger fans to remain at home to help mitigate the spread of Covid-19 while also highlighting Burger King’s support for healthcare professionals.
Referring to fans who remain inside as ‘couch po-ta-triots,’ the spot, created by FCB, seeks to galvanise Burger King customers to do their part to save their community by having their food delivered directly to them, instead of venturing outside.
To encourage them to do so, Burger King is waiving all delivery fees on orders over $10 through its mobile app, The Drum reported.
As part of the campaign, to salute those on the frontline fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, Burger King is giving away 250,000 Whopper sandwiches to nurses.
According to The Drum, the American Nurses Foundation will distribute codes for nurses to order Whopper Sandwiches for free through the BK mobile app. It is also collecting money for the charity, asking its fans to text ‘THANKS’ to a hotline to make a one-time $10 donation directly to the American Nurses Foundation Coronavirus Response Fund.
