While several other smartphone companies outsource their cameras to makers such as Samsung and Sony, Xiaomi defeats them by opening their own internal camera section.
The news was leaked from an internal e-mail from the company, originally obtained by a Chinese publisher. We do not know when exactly the department will start operations, but the idea has the support of Xiaomi’s founder and CEO Lei Jun, which could be an important point in his favor.
The company’s recent telephones perform exceptionally well in terms of camera performance. A good example of this is the company’s new Mi Mix 2S, which achieved a total score of 97 from DxO Mark, including a score of 101 from still images.
The move will help the company to design efficiently from his phone, apart from having even closer integration in the hardware and software of the phone. It can be vital to bring deeper AI-focused functions and face recognition to future phones, especially those in the lower regions of the market where the company has a stronghold.
